The Polish Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale, curated by Marta Czyż and realized by the Ukrainian collective Open Group, presents a poignant installation comprising two video works. It offers a collective portrayal of war witnesses, particularly civilians with refugee experiences from Ukraine, who narrate the war through recalled sounds of weaponry, engaging the audience in a participatory “military karaoke” that underscores war as a universal collective experience transcending societal boundaries.

However, progress towards gender equality has been marginal since 2015, and the outbreak of the pandemic has only exacerbated these inequalities. At the current pace of action, the gap will be closed in 2128.


107 years – that’s how long it could take to achieve true gender equality in Poland. You can wait or start changing today! Inequalities can be seen in many areas of our lives. They concern not only work, promotion, earnings, but also private issues. Inequality in one area affects others. For example, the burden of domestic and parental responsibilities on women affects their position in the labour market.

The Diversity Charter is an international initiative, implemented in EU countries such as Poland, France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, Ireland, Finland, Estonia and Luxembourg, and promoted by the European Commission.

The Charter is a pledge, signed by organisations that decide to ban discrimination in the workplace and work towards creating and promoting diversity, and expresses the company’s willingness to involve all employees and business and social partners in these activities. Organisations choosing to implement this tool are working towards social cohesion and equality.
